FAQs for my new reusable fabric crackers!

Posted by Alice Pascoe on

Thank you for taking a look at my reusable fabric crackers! I thought I'd write all the FAQs for them here in one spot =)
If you have any further questions please don't hesitate to contact me on simplywishesuk@gmail.com

How long will my crackers order take to arrive?
Each cracker is made to order so please allow 5-7 working days for your crackers to be made and then packed and posted. I post all order Royal Mail 2nd Class which takes 1-3 working days, however as everyone knows that can be longer during the run up to Christmas. If you would like your crackers by Christmas 2022 I recommend ordering BEFORE 1st December 2022.

I like another fabric from you website, can crackers be made out of that fabric?
Depends. Fabric from my bolt collection can be depending on size of order and remaining stock of said fabric. The best thing to do would be to pop me an email letting me know which fabric you're interested in and how many crackers. My Bolt selection of fabrics can be found just here

What will my order look like when it arrives? Can I have it sent as a gift straight to a friend?
You certainly can! To save on paper I don't print off packing slips for my orders but I do write a thank you note on a business card. If you'd like to send this straight to the recipient with it being a gift please pop a message in the notes section at check out and I'll write this on a business card instead.
Your cracker/s will arrive in a box wrapped with tissue paper and already assembled. I've then got a handy blog post about my best way to re tying your ribbon to get the perfect bow, and a video on my instagram @simplywishesuk
There will also be a little print out of care instructions with every order of crackers.

I'd like crackers for my wedding / large party, is there a discount for large bulk orders?
There certainly is! If you're looking to order 10 or more crackers I am happy to offer you a discount. The order doesn't have to be out of the same fabric however they would need to be in quantities of 4s per fabric. ie if you were wanting 10 cracker you can pick form a maximum selection of 2 different fabric - 5 of one fabric, 5 of another. If you were ordering 12 cracker you could choose up to 3 different fabrics (4 crackers of each fabric) Please pop me an email if you're interested.

Do you offer wholesale?
I certainly do! Similar to the bulk order above question, wholesale works with a minimum of 4 crackers per fabric with a total order being more than 10 crackers. Please pop me an email if you're interested.

Why aren't there cracker snaps included?
I would NOT recommenced adding crackers snaps to these crackers. They are made from card inner tube, cotton fabric and trimmings made from various fabrics. These are not fire resistant materials, it would be unsafe to use snaps in the crackers. Instead I suggest pulling your crackers round the table with some imagination and seeing who can shout the loudest BANG!

Can I wash my crackers?
You certainly can! Un roll your cracker and leave the card tube and satin ribbon ties to one side. I then recommend hand washing or if in a machine pop them in a pillowcase and then into the machine on a cool wash (being in something like a pillowcase helps protect the trimmings)
Air dry and DO NOT Tumble Dry. Iron on the reverse, avoid direct heat from the iron to the trimmings as they could melt from the heat of the iron.

What can I put in my crackers?
Anything that fits! =) The card tube measures 9.5cm in length and 4.4cm in width. This is roughly the same size as an average loo roll inner tube (but don't worry, for hygiene reasons these tubes are specially bought new card rolls!)
When buying things to put in your crackers each year it may be handy to take a odd inner of a loo roll round the shops with you.

Can I have different trimmings to the listing photo?
100% Each cracker is made to order so you can pick whichever trimmings you like from my current selection. Each cracker can have up to 2 trimmings (4 lines of decoration as you have 2 lines of trimmings at the top of the cracker and then again at the bottom) Or you can have just one of even none! The fabric is beautiful on it's own too =)
Please note due to demand I may not have some trimmings left from the photos shown. I can send you a photo of my current selection of trimmings for you to pick.

How to I wrap my cracker up again?
I've got a handy blog post dedicated to wrapping your crackers and how to tie the best bow just here

My cracker fabric looks different to the listing photo, why?
Please remember that all crackers are made to order and pattern placement varies on all fabrics so it can't be guaranteed what section of fabric will be visible once rolled until made. This is particuallry apparent on the festive friends fabric, there's a large pattern repeat so it can't be garunteed which animals will be visable till the cracker is once again made up

Why is there a different coloured fabric in the underneath of my cracker?
All crackers are lined with a cotton or linen fabric - colour depending on stock levels, I will always try to match it to the top fabric. I line all my crackers as I find this neater than a rolled hem, also means there's no visible stitching around the edge of the cracker.

This may be cheeky, but can you tell me how to make these myself?
I can =) I've seen myself just how much fun it can be to pick out the trimmings and make these crackers yourself, and that sometimes half the fun at Christmas is getting crafty with friends and family and wanting to make those memories yourself.
I am running workshops in Exeter and Dawlish where you will learn how to make these crackers - variable to size so you will know how to make them bigger or smaller. Best ways to add trimmings and how to tie the perfect bow. Workshops are available just here
I am also currently working kits for these crackers! Kits will include materials to make 4 crackers including fabric, trimmings, ribbon and card inner tubes. Currently only available from a few fabrics.
