New Craft Corner!
Posted by Alice Pascoe on
I've moved!
Obviously having a new baby isn't enough for one year, throw in moving house and buying out first property to the mix for a right old headache!
Jokes aside it is beautiful, and one million percent worth it just added alot of stress to an already stressful year but now that we're in we're able to make it our own slowly but surely around baby P's nap times!
There's still more to do / more storage solutions to find but I am so so happy with my new space. It's part of the living room so I've no longer a craft room but craft corner hence the need for more storage as I'm wanting to keep things as tidy as I can while still being creative.
First thing that I knew I needed was shelves. I looked into ready made bookcases however there's a set of plugs just about the skirting board which could've been in the way if a bookcase had a back panel and I knew I wanted my fabric on a shelf to their own and nothing ready made had a deep enough bottom shelf.
So I instead bought planks of wood and my dad cut and sanded them down. I found these lovely and study gold shelf brackets online and there you have it! My dad put them up using 10cm screws knowing then would be holding heavy items, and it meant I was able to decide myself how far apart each shelf was.
I LOVE having my fabric out on display, it's already made me use them more often seeing them everyday, they're also tucked round the corner form the window so the light won't fade them on the edge over time.
The pegboard was also ordered blank and I used Lick Yellow 03 to paint it. I did 3 coasts in the end to get a deeper colour as it was raw mdf so started off looking quite pale but I love it!
The pegs and little shelf are from Block design. I have wanted a pegboard for so long that once it arrived I was rather overwhelmed with the possibilities so look through blocks website really helped to give me inspiration.
Next up are ribbons and trimmings. Again, hard to believe now but ALL of these ribbons were in a box hidden away in my last space. I would literally forget about some of them and sometimes buy more thinking I'd run out.
I LOVE this ribbon display. Bought on etsy from This Pretty Room, I didn't even know it was something I needed till I saw it and Nicky even made me a custom size so it would fit my space. I'm now working on uploading all of these ribbons and trimmings so that they are available to buy too, some already are just here
The rest of my space is still a working progress but I am so happy with this space and just wanted to share it!
